Once you are in Camps Bay, the beach, the restaurant strip and the Pipe Track trailhead at the top of Kloof Nek Road are all reached on foot.
When to go
Go outside June and July, which the site names as months to skip here, and expect the south-easter from November to February: it funnels down the ravines and can blow the beach out entirely by 2pm, which is why locals go early or after 5pm. In January the sun drops behind the sea around 8.15pm and the restaurant strip queues for a table from 5.30pm. Weekday mornings beat weekends for the tidal pools at Maiden's Cove.
