Getting there and around
MyCiTi routes 107 and 108 run Civic Centre to Hout Bay via Sea Point and Camps Bay along Victoria Road, roughly 45 to 60 minutes and about R21 with a myconnect card, with route 108 continuing up to Imizamo Yethu. Services thin out sharply, so most visitors drive. Chapman's Peak Drive has a toll gate at the southern end of Hout Bay on the M6, roughly R67 for a car, open dawn to dusk and closed in bad weather. Circe Launches and Nauticat run from the harbour jetty at the end of Harbour Road roughly hourly from 9am in season.
When to go
The site gives no dated events, but Hout Bay's rhythm is clear enough. January is the busiest stretch, with doubles running R1,400 to R3,000. The Bay Harbour Market is the valley's most reliable outing: Fridays 5pm to 9pm, Saturdays and Sundays 9.30am to 4pm, with live bands on the Friday stage and tables best claimed by 6pm. Winter weekday nights feel almost rural, and Chapman's Peak Drive can close in bad weather, so check its status before setting out.
