Observatory station sits on Metrorail's Southern Line, about ten minutes and R10 from Cape Town station, with trains toward Muizenberg, Kalk Bay and Simon's Town. It is daytime only in practice — locals do not use it after about 6pm. Golden Arrow buses and minibus taxis run Main Road constantly for R12 to R18, and a minibus to the CBD takes twelve minutes. From upper Obs it is ten minutes on foot across the Black River to Alexandra Road in Pinelands. E-hail home rather than walking to Station Road after midnight.
