The Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) is the city's main conference and exhibition venue, sitting on the Foreshore edge of the City Bowl. It hosts large congresses, trade fairs, concerts and corporate events, which is why so many visitors to Cape Town stay within a few minutes of its doors. Around it lie Long and Bree Street, Bo-Kaap, Company's Garden and the harbour, with Table Mountain looming over every intersection. The City Bowl itself is the amphitheatre of flats and Victorian shopfronts wedged between Table Mountain, Devil's Peak, Signal Hill and the harbour. It takes in the CBD grid, Bo-Kaap on the Signal Hill slope, and the residential shoulders of Gardens, Tamboerskloof, Oranjezicht and Vredehoek. The cableway, the museums, three markets and about two hundred restaurants sit within a thirty-minute walk of each other, and the mountain is always there to tell you which way is south. For anyone attending an event at the CTICC, this is the most practical part of Cape Town to base yourself.
